What Would Make America “More Perfect?”

So that it can become a More Perfect Union, #AmericaFirst needs to remove the log from her own eye, then she can see clear to remove the speck from her brother’s & sister’s.

But self-examination has somehow become unpatriotic…

To be a #PatrioticAmerican, one must believe that America is #1 in everything in which we want to be #1…simply because we want to be #1, despite any and all evidence to the contrary.

Consider the reality in light of the Preamble…

For instance, when it comes to forging a More Perfect Union.

The mythology of America would have us believe that the More Perfect Union is something greater than a mere collection of States that survived the rush to secession.

The mythology of America would have us believe that the More Perfect Union is about one Nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for all. A place where we demonstrate the power for Freedom and Liberty to make humanity more humane…less inhumane…less likely to war and violence…more likely to peace and love.

Yet, for some reason, Freedom and Liberty have no power to make America a More Perfect Union…

Seems, as we progress the state of our Union regresses.

From Forbes Magazine:

  • According to the New York Times, for every $100 in white family wealth, black families hold just $5.04.
  • The Economic Policy Institute found that more than one in four black households have zero or negative net worth, compared to less than one in ten white families without wealth.
  • The Institute for Policy Studies recent report The Road to Zero Wealth: How the Racial Divide is Hollowing Out the America’s Middle Class (RZW) showed that between 1983 and 2013, the wealth of the median black household declined 75 percent (from $6,800 to $1,700), and the median Latino household declined 50 percent (from $4,000 to $2,000). At the same time, wealth for the median white household increased 14 percent from $102,000 to $116,800.

And things don’t look much better when you look at net worth on the basis of educational level:

It doesn’t matter where you get the data from, it all tells the same story…

Take this from the Economic Policy Institute’s analysis of 2016 data:

While median hourly wages vary by a few dollars ($14.92 for black workers, $19.79 for white workers), the difference in median household income is tens of thousands of dollars ($39,490 for black households, $65,041 for white households), and the difference in median family net worth is hundreds of thousands of dollars ($17,600 for black families, $171,000 for white families).

And, there is literal evidence of the imperfection of our Union…the literal segregation and isolation in which we live – even within seemingly integrated institutions.

Look at the supposed liberal colleges and universities…

Those places that profited on slavery (& still profit on slavery) and became enlightened such that the began admitting the descendants of formerly enslaved…and those who look like they could have been descendants of the formerly enslaved.

And they take Affirmative Action, to let Blacks know there’s space for us within their institutions.

Yet around the country, the same things is true: Go to any Predominantly White Institution in America and you will see the Black students with their safe space. And if you listen genuinely, you’ll hear the stories of trauma inflicted by the institution…let alone the trauma inflicted by the entitled Whites who see Blacks as their toys as well as the trauma inflicted by those poor Whites who feel your Black ass is robbing them of their future – in their Country.

That is the degree of imperfection within our Union.

But does White America care?

Or is the formation of a More Perfect Union something for which you no longer care?

Or! Or is it that you believe that somehow, you – feeble humanity – had reached a state of perfection at some point in the past. As if once upon a time, America was that “More Perfect Union”…

And, if we could just go back to some time in the past, we could Make America Great Again…

That, if we could go backwards on our journey, somehow that will get us closer to the Beloved Community…

How do you define this More Perfect Union?

How do you define the attainment of perfection? Is it not an endless pursuit that can never be achieved by humanity, save by humanity united with God in His Kingdom?

We can always come closer, yes! So, we haven’t been there yet…

We cannot return “again” to a place we’ve never been…

We cannot avert our eyes from the ugly, and flee to a time when Society was better at shielding White people from the ugly of White Supremacy.

The populist movements on both the Right and the Left both seek to hide the ugly of White Supremacy from the populous…leading the masses ever-closer to the precipice of the great chasm which exists between the Way of Life and the way of Death.

Certainly this is not a More Perfect Union.

But let’s see what the rest of the Preamble tells us, to support this point…
